ETC on Biological Diversity Structure

History

The current ETC/BD succeeds former ETCs: the ETC on Nature Conservation (1995-2000), the ETC on Nature Protection and Biodiversity (2001-2004) and the ETC on Biological Diversity (2005-2008).
Its activities have widened and now are organised following EEA Strategic Actions while its geographical coverage has increased to reflect the new members of the EEA and the enlargement of the European Union.

The organisation of the ETC/BD ensures :

Continuity with the network of partners built since 1995 while also diversifying the skills available and allowing a more integrated approach.
Close liaison with the EEA member countries in order to strengthen the European Information and Observation Network (Eionet)

A leading organisation: Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle (MNHN), Paris, France,
An international coordinating team based in the National Museum of Natural History, Paris,
A multidisciplinary expert consortium of specialised institutions from different European countries.
Under contract to the European Environment Agency with support of the Ministère de l'Écologie, de l'Energie, du Développement durable et de l'Aménagement du territoire
(French Ministry of Ecology, Energy, Sustainable Development and Physical Planning).
